Friends, that's what it's called. And friendly it certainly is.
Situated on Garratt Lane, heading North and on the left just before the Henry Prince Estate. Now it's not the fashionable end of Earlsfield, but it's only a short stroll and worth every step. Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indonesian and Malaysian all on one menu and, my friends, it's all so delicious. Yum Neau (Sliced grilled beef steak with lemon juice, chilli and mixed tropical herbs), is worth the trip alone. Salt and Pepper squid, just wanted it again, straight away. Chicken Gyoza, light and delicate. And that's just for starters.
James, the owner, tells me produce is delivered fresh on a daily basis like Amaranth. But this place could give Amaranth, well, a slow jog for it's money. Amaranth is always going to be hard to beat. But seeing as one can't get a seat there on a whim, Friends is your next stop.
It's canteen style benching, so great for groups. But I feel this place has the kind of vibe that, on a solo trip, you never know who you might get chatting to. Oh, most importantly given our decrepit financial state, it's a red-hot bargain to boot.
I cannot urge you strongly enough. It's a new local business and they're going to need our support. And we in Earlsfield are pretty good at that.
Enjoy! Paul M
